+ What will a Cross Search do?
A Cross Search looks through both Name and Subject information as well as the full descriptive parts of records at the same time. This facilitates a more comprehensive examination of records for information that may not be covered by the controlled list of subject headings used in subject searches.
+ Cross Search "with ALL of the words"

This will look for any organisations containing ALL of the words you type somewhere in the name, the subject or the descriptive parts of the record. They must all be present, but they can be in any order. Normally the words will be higlighted in the found records when displayed. (They may not necessarily be visible - sometimes, for example, they might be in subject indexes which are hidden from view).

Normally, the more words you put in, the more specific your search will be and less records are likely to be found.

+ Cross Search "with AT LEAST ONE of the words"
This will look for any organisations containing ANY (at least one) of the words you type somewhere in the name, the subject or the descriptive parts of the record.

This box looks for exact matches. The search will look for the words you type in exactly the same order that you type them.

If you want to build your own search using Boolean syntax you can use this box.
